This Is Crude Behavior

Questioner: When we get angry we start using abusive language. How can we improve ourselves?

Dadashri: It happens because one does not have any control. In order to gain some control one should first understand how one feels when someone gets angry with him or her. How does one tolerate such behavior when it is directed towards him or her? Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

If someone hurls abusive language towards you and it does not bother or depress you, it is a different matter. If however, it bothers you, then you should stop your interaction altogether. One must never use abusive language. Swearing is an offensive and crude behavior, unbecoming of any human being.

When One Gets Angry With Children.

Questioner: What should I do when I become angry with my child?

Dadashri: Anger occurs because of lack of understanding. If you ask your child how he feels when you get angry, he will tell you that it hurts him. He feels hurt and so do you. Then is there a need to get angry with the child? If it were of any benefit to him, then you could continue getting angry, but what is the point when it only does more damage?

Questioner: If we didn't get angry then they wouldn't listen to us, and they wouldn't eat.

Dadashri: So you would intimidate them just so that they would listen to you?
