By exercising your authority [negatively], you will feel depressed. The authority (satta) is to be used only to give happiness to others. The authority is to be used to give happiness to even those who are at fault!
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanRather than the one who gets angry, the world is more afraid of the one who does not get angry. Why? When anger ceases, grandeur of authority (pratap) arises. Such is the law of nature. Otherwise there would never be any protection for those who don't get angry. Anger provides protection during one’s conduct in ignorance of the self.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanIn what does authority of the Self (Swa-satta) lie? The awareness that prevails when a mistake is made and the cautioning that happens, that is the authority of the Self. The authority of the Self lies in ensuring that One does not enter anywhere in the authority of the non-Self (par-satta).
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanTo believe the authority of the non-Self (par-satta) to be One's own authority, that is indeed called illusion (bhranti). From the point one begins to understand that this is the authority of another entity, some illusion will clear away.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanPeople who are ignorant of the Self (agnani), experience fear. Those who have been imparted the Knowledge of the Self, suffer the fear. And the One who Knows the effect of the fear [as separate from Himself] is [prevailing in] the authority of Knowledge only!
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanWhen a person with Self-ignorance (agnani) becomes a ‘collector’ [attains an important position], he becomes intoxicated with that power. The Gnani Purush (One who has realized the Self and is able to do the same for others) has the sovereign authority over the entire universe, yet He does not have the slightest of intoxication of that power.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanThat which is external, it is instrumental (naimitik); it is relative and it is perishable [destructive]. Instrumental means no one has a say in it. One’s actions are not of his own free will; he is under the control of external power. So on what basis do you need to object? Sooner or later you will have to become free from objections.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanOne is God himself, [but] for how long does that authority of God last? As long as he speaks the truth, practices non-violence, does not steal, practices celibacy and remains non-acquisitive – till then power of God will remain.
