Religion will take you very high up in virtuous qualities or virtuousness, but ultimately you will have to realize the Soul, and for that, you will have to seek out a self-realized person (Atma Gnani). Whatever pathway you choose, whatever means you undertake, nevertheless this point will come, only then will you be able to reach the Soul. Both railway lines are different.
The line that leads to realization of the Soul is different from the line of religion. In religion, you have to do all these rituals, holy rituals do focusing and concentration, meditation, do holy chanting, do penance, do meditation, do holy readings, do prayers, light an oil lamp, do Aarti everything needs to be done. This is not wrong; they are all holy and sacred rituals. With this, you bind merit karma. Whereas, in the Soul, there is no question about doing; however achieving the non-doer stage is required; achieving complete non-doership is required.
Now this stage cannot be attained just like that, so by doing something how can we achieve the non-doer stage. Therefore, that is where the contradiction arises. Do you understand? It is here that the Gnani's (self-realized people) show you the way. They say you do not need to do anything, like a child that goes to kindergarten; does he need to do anything there? The teacher does everything for him. Similarly, you also do not need to do anything nor worry at all. Like the way the child is taught to repeat the numbers 1, 2 so he learns it by repetition. No matter how much he scribbles at home, he'll never learn the numbers 1,2 but by the teachers' repeated efforts, he will learn it, One is one and two is two is learnt by repeatedly saying it. This is just like that.
For example, they cannot show you that thereafter while Spirituality (Direct Spirituality) takes you there. Do you understand? The Saints & Scriptures will show you everything about Lord Shiva, chant Om Namah Shivay, Om Namah Shivay', doing the rituals, put leaf (billipatra) on the idol, and ceremonially bath the idol. One starts with I bow to Shiva (Om Namah Shivay) but ultimately fails to come to I am Shiva (Shivoham). People say this. This has been heard several times in the Shiva Temple, Om Namah Shivay, and Om Namah Shivay and at the same time Nijanand Roopam Shivoham Shivoham. They say that too. Hey! You cannot say both simultaneously. They contradict one another. Do you understand that?
Spirituality (Direct Spirituality) and religion have been mixed. Only when you come into Spirituality can you say I am Shiva, or I am Brahma I am pure soul. Until then, one has to keep on doing all of this. Keep both separate. Proceed according to your standard until you experience your own soul, until then whatever you say - Om Namah Shivay, Shree Krishna Sharanam mama, Ram, Ram, it is ok. Progress accordingly.
At present, what are you? You would say Bakul. That why it stays with you, because it is constantly in your conscientiousness that you are Bakul. Does it ever go from your mind? It remains doesn't it! Whilst your standing, sitting, eating, drinking, even in your sleep, or someone is insulting Bakul. Even when Bakul's name is heard, you automatically stand up, that is how much it has been automated into you! When you experience your Soul, you will become automated in the same way, with the realization that I am Soul and not Bakul. This realization will remain with you, whether you are standing, sitting, eating, drinking or whatever you are doing; it remains in your awareness. It is in your awareness. Your Soul becomes aware and you become that form. It reminds you that you are Pure Soul.
Soul is an eternal element; it is eternal, it is endless. It is endless that is why it does not have a beginning nor will it have an end. That is the meaning of an endless element. All of these scientists have been in search for these eternal elements. They have yet to reach the Soul however, self realized people (Gnani's have managed to find a pathway. Do you understand? There is such an eternal element within you, and you are that however you have not fully realized it. You are not Bakul, your name is Bakul - a name been given to distinguish this body, like all these shops have a sign on the front of them, like Akbar Ali's, Shankutal's and Dharamshi's, just like them Bakul is a sign for recognizing this body. What happens to us now in our beliefs? What happens to the belief that I am Bakul? You now become the owner of the shop known as Bakul. Yet you become the sign instead of the owner in your beliefs, when will you realize this? If someone was to say Bakul is this, Bakul is that, Bakul is useless. Then inside you would be hurt would you not? Yes, it causes internal pain; they are saying this about me! I am not like this. This is where you have become the sign and not the owner. There if you remember the knowledge of who is being insulted? That this is being said to the sign and not to me (I am Pure Soul)! Then nothing would affect you and actually, they only know the sign, they do not know you. You are Pure Soul form. You still do not realize your Soul. When you realize your Soul, it will remain in your awareness for the rest of your life. It will remain automatically that this is a sign and you are different (Pure Soul).
