How to live a Peaceful Life

Learning to adjust is a prerequisite for a peaceful life. According to Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, a person who knows how to adjust with others will not suffer. Param Pujya Dadashri counsels, "If you simply assimilate the phrase ‘adjust everywhere’ in your life, then that is more than enough. Peace will arise automatically for you. At first, for the first six months or so, you will experience difficulties; then, automatically, it will become peaceful.” Therefore, this adaptability of adjusting will give peace in the long run, even though at first there may be difficulties due to past conditioning.

Param Pujya Dadashri says, "Adjusting with each and every person is the highest religion". Given the vast number of different personalities, characteristics and tendencies of people, how can we go through life peacefully if we expect everyone to bend to our will? It is indeed much wiser to adjust and in doing so, maintain our peace of mind

Put yourself in these situations, what do you do and why?

  • Why don't you leave your job when your boss shouts and insults you?

Because you are getting a salary, which helps you run your home.

  • Why do you slow down when you reach a bump on the road?

So that you do not damage your car and hurt yourself.

  • Why do you adjust to different showers, beds, pillows, door handles, taps, switches when you are away from home?

Because you have no choice and you are only there for short period of time.

  • Why do you wear a jacket in the winter?

Because you cannot make it warmer outside, you have no choice.

  • Why do you cover your nose when you pass by an area that smells?

So that you do not smell the bad air.

  • Why do you change your wardrobe according to the weather?

Because you know that you cannot change the weather, you have no control over it.

  • Why do you avoid walking on potholes that are on the street?

Because there are chances of falling and getting hurt.

In all these instances we knowingly adjust to the situation at hand, because we are fully aware of what might happen if we do not. In the same way, in life if we knowingly adjust to the people and circumstances around us then we save ourselves from unnecessary trouble. This enables us to live a peaceful life.

In Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan’s words, "You will sail through all difficulties in life if you adjust to anyone who fails to adjust with you. A person who knows how to adjust with others does not suffer."

When you fail to adjust a two sided loss occurs. You get hurt and so does the opposite person. So to avoid making any losses, learn how to adjust in life.
