Questioner: Is moksha the end of the cycle of birth and death? Dadashri: No. To go to Moksha means to go ‘full stage’. Moksha means eternal supreme bliss. There is nothing beyond moksha. It is the ultimate thing. One does not understand moksha at all if one thinks that there is something else beyond that. ‘Moksha means the feeling of being free’. Freedom from worldly wishes or desires is supreme bliss. All these worldly desires obstruct the supreme bliss. A split second’s worth of bliss of the Siddha Bhagwan (liberated Gods) is more than the bliss of all the Devas (celestial beings) put together. Why does this supreme bliss become obstructed? It is only because of your past faults. It is these faults that do not allow you to experience your own bliss! It is because of these very faults that this bliss is obstructed. No one has ever experienced true liberation. The Avatar (the Enlightened one) has this liberation; The Gnani’s vitragta (freedom from any attachment) is freedom! I experience the feeling that ‘I’ reside within you. A person can experience the bliss of liberation by just knowing how to do darshan (to view, to understand or to look upon or to perceive) of an Avatar.
Questioner: By darshan do you mean doing darshan with bhaav (good intentions)? Dadashri: No not bhaav, you already have the bhaav, but you must know how to do the darshan. One must know how to do the exact darshan of an Avatar (Gnani Purush). If one does not have any obstacles then he is able to do such a darshan after which he will experience the bliss of liberation.
Questioner: What is the stamp of approval for moksha? Dadashri: It is whether a person has partiality or not.
These are all degrees and within those degrees there are some more degrees. These are all different paths, whereas there is only one path to moksha and that one path is extremely difficult to find. All other paths are ornamental, where there are things that will attract people very easily and entice them, whereas this path to moksha is not ornamental and that is why people would not know about it!
If you are sitting outside on a hot summer’s day and feel a cold breeze then you can understand the existence of ice. Similarly, here (Akram Path) you get a vague experience of Atma (soul) and from the moment this experience starts, the experience of the worldly things comes to an end. Experience can only be in one place at a time, it cannot be in two places at the same time. From the moment the experience of the Atma begins, that is Atma’s svasamvedan (increasing experience of the Self through spontaneous applied science of the Self), which then slowly increases to an absolute experience.
You can know about all the topics in the world but that knowledge is acquired through the ego and it is within the confines of the intellect. The knowledge without the involvement of the ego, on the other hand, is called Gnan (Real knowledge, Absolute knowledge). Knowledge void of the ego is Self-illuminating (Atma) and it also illuminates the non-self. It can illuminate the entire universe. Intellectual knowledge- knowledge with ego- is non-self illuminating. It has limitations and also has dependency. It is because of ignorance one says, ‘I am a doctor’, or ‘I am an engineer.’ That is the kind of dependency one hangs on to. Everyone is trying to find moksha, but they cannot find the path. Instead they keep roaming around within the four life forms (i.e. Human, animal, celestial and hellish). The Avatar is the only one who has the capacity (to liberate), for he himself has crossed the ocean of life and helps others swim across it!
All the paths of the four life forms require considerable effort on one’s part. Those who have to work hard go to the kingdom of hell; those who make less of an effort go to Deva gati (celestial beings). The ones who make even lesser of an effort go to animal life form and those who do not need any effort at all are on the path to moksha (liberation). Should there be any need for effort after meeting an Avatar (Gnani Purush)? The Avatar (Gnani Purush) himself does it for you. You can make the effort on your own to cook a meal but you are not able to make the effort on your own to acquire Atma darshan (experience of Soul). It is only the Avatar (Gnani) who can do it for you. If a Gnani Purush tells you to make an effort, would we not say, ‘How can I make any effort when I myself am incapacitated?’
If a doctor tells you that you have to prepare and make your own medicine, why would you even go to that doctor? Would you not just take care of your illness yourself? Similarly, if we go to an Avatar (Gnani Purush) and then we have to do things ourselves, then what is the point of going to him in the first place? There is no effort needed, no penance, no renunciation with an Avatar (Gnani Purush).
The Gnani does not have any desires. He himself is the master of the whole universe, so why would he need anything! The Avatar (Gnani Purush) never feels, even for a second, that he is the owner of his own body. He who is not the owner of his physical body is the master of the whole universe. Elsewhere there are Gurus and they have at least expectations of respect and fame. Gnani's do not have any kind of expectations. They have no need to be garlanded with flowers. Everything is allowed here, if you feel the need to garland me, then do so. If you have any impending worldly obstacles, the garlanding will help you reduce them and their effects. And in all this I am not the ‘doer’ of anything, I am just an instrument in all this. Everything works out through the grace of an Avatar (Gnani Purush). The Avatar (Gnani Purush) himself has no desire for wealth, sex or fame. He has no desire for anything at all!
I have only one wish and that is that the world turns towards the path to moksha and attains it! When can you say that a person has turned to the path of liberation? It is only when one proceeds at least for some distance on that path. Right now all the religions are not on the path of the Vitraag's (the liberated ones). Who can be considered to be on the path of Vitraag's? It is those who come to normality. “Above normal is fever and below normal is fever. 97 is below and 99 is above normal fever. 98 is the normality”. Both above and below normal are fevers. Only the doctors take this into consideration, but this applies to everything! Normality will be needed in eating, drinking, sleeping, in everything; that is the path of the Vitraag's. Today everything has become above normal; everything has become poisonous everywhere. No one is to be blamed. Everyone is caught up in this time cycle!
The Vitraag path means to come into normality in everything. But what people do is they become involved in doing penance, a person’s exclusive affection to penance leads to more of the same. Why are you getting lost in that? These are all big well holes! You come out of one hole and fall into another. It is like cleaning only one corner of a room! You keep cleaning the corner of ‘penance’ and that is all that you do. Many become involved in renunciation and that is all they do. Many get bogged down with reading the scriptures! You fools, you are stuck in just one corner?! If you want to go to moksha you will have to “sweep all the corners”! However you will still reap some benefits from your efforts but if it is moksha that you want, your efforts will not be of any use. If you want to roam within the four different life forms, then concentrate on only one thing. You will be able to take birth as a human again and people will come praising you. I can grant you that.
But for how long would you want this? And everywhere you go there will be conflicts and headaches! Instead why don’t you come and receive your ultimate liberation from me! Take something from here that will be a permanent solution!
Every Indian has within him, enough energy to make the world tremble. Why do I single out Indians? That is because there is a considerable measure of spiritual strength in Indians! But today that energy is all covered up. It has been impeded. To set these energies free one needs a nimit (someone who becomes instrumental in the process of spiritual attainment); a nimit as a giver of liberation is needed, then these energies will be exposed. A nimit that has absolutely no enemies, not even enemies in devas, such a nimit of a ‘giver of liberations’ is needed.
What I am saying is that, the path to moksha is open. So then people will move towards that and then go higher. The Soul’s inherent nature is to rise towards moksha, whereas the physical body weighs it down. But because the Atma is chetan (animate; unalloyed consciousness;living) it will eventually win. There is no chetan in the physical body and so it does not have any capability. Chetan means it has the capability of figuring out a way to break free. Nothing can bind those who want to be free and nothing can free those who want to remain bound!
