The following is an excerpt of satsang by Pujya Niruma with a spiritual seeker.  Pujya Niruma has acquired knowledge of Self-Realization from the Gnani Purush A. M. Patel and she has been blessed with the special spiritual powers to grace others with the same enlightenment.

This (the science of Self-Realization) is all scientific; the understanding is scientific. See whatever I am telling you is not religion, this is spiritualism. See religion is one thing and spiritualism; that is spiritual science is another thing. Science is science. 1 + 1 = 2.  H2 + O = water; it means water. Not a single contradiction is allowed here, perfection is required in science and not only perfection but we also have to have results. Science is always result oriented, so when you get the correct understanding, what will you get as the end result? Perfect peace and no disturbance; you are always at ease, this is the result of a perfect spiritual science. Everybody wants happiness right? Nobody likes unhappiness, so everybody is in search of happiness. You came here all the way from Madras, why? For what? To achieve happiness. See the happiness people find in the world is not enough. Try to understand whether happiness that comes in the form of name, fame, money, comforts and everything worldly, is permanent or temporary. Because in this world everything is temporary, this body is also temporary, money is also temporary, sometimes money comes but it also goes. You think you may earn more in stocks, you invest in it but then you may lose also. So when you lose your money or anything else, you will realize, ‘oh this is all temporary’ there is no permanent happiness. Everybody wants happiness but their search for happiness never ends.  People are constantly searching for it.  Right from their childhood till they die, everybody is in search of happiness.

As a child grows up, his object of happiness always changes and so the search is always there. Because the object of happiness changes, you have to look for another object. When the child is small, he is content with small toys, some food and milk.  He doesn’t know what money is or what clothes are or he doesn’t think ‘I’ll get happiness from this or that etc.’ He has limitation and his understanding of achieving happiness is very limited. Food, milk and small toys that is it and then as he gets older, his belief of objects to achieve happiness changes. He wants bigger toys, a bat and ball.  A little girl will want a doll.  These all become objects for achieving happiness. See the definition of happiness and the object of happiness changes.  Then as a teenager he or she will say, ’ok I am not satisfied with this bat or this doll.  I want a living doll now! So the object changes, and they try to find a girlfriend or a boyfriend, and they also seek education. Why education? Because his belief is ‘If I get some education then I will get a good job and make good money.  Then I can buy a nice house, a car and a good wife and then I will be happy.’ So for that he goes to college and the process goes on.  Then he will want some children then from a small apartment, he will want a bigger one, then a big house and new cars and this and that and on and on. See there is no end to the search for happiness.  Why?  Because all worldly happiness comes to an end and so people look for new happiness.  All worldly objects are temporary. The object from which you are trying to achieve happiness is temporary and you want permanent happiness. So there is a discrepancy there.  As soon as the object gets used up or finishes, you find unhappiness. If that object is destructed or destroyed, you experience unhappiness. So again you start looking for an object that will give you happiness. The cycle goes on and goes on.  Since infinite past lives, you have not achieved the permanent happiness. So this search for happiness is always there.

Now what is the solution to this? Your search will come to an end if you find an object that is permanent and then your happiness will be permanent too.  Then your search will end. So try to find that which is permanent and eternal in this world. The body will come to end some day, will it not?  Your house too, we don’t know whether it will remain. Everything in this world is temporary but your ‘true self’ is permanent; your ‘true self’ is always there. All the time, witnessing everything from your childhood till the time of death. You are there, and you are constant; there is no change in that, the changes are always taking place in the external part. The external part is your ‘relative self’ not your ‘real self’. So in order for to achieve real happiness, you have to realize your ‘true self’.  You have to find and realize the answer to ‘who am I in reality’. That ‘I’ the real you, is always there and it is an eternal element.

All the Self-realized beings in the past have spoken about the true Self and so do those in the present times. They have said that the true Self is nothing but your own ‘Atma’. We call it ‘atma’, our ‘soul’ and that is our ‘true self’. Atma is a name given to it for us to understand what is true, but the real thing is your ‘true self’. It is the real ‘I’.
Right now your real ‘I’ is not in reality, and because of a wrong belief you think, ‘I am Mathura’, and this wrong belief extends to all kinds of other wrong beliefs. For example, ‘I am from India…I live in Madras…I am a professor…I am this…I am that…’ and so on.  These are all your wrong beliefs, there is only one right belief and that is ‘I am a pure soul’, ‘I am shuddha atma’. Your atma is shuddha; it is pure.  Why is it pure? Because an element is always pure, it never becomes impure. For example, in our body, in the body of every living being, there are two main important eternal elements. One is your ‘I’ part and another is your ‘my’ part. The ‘I’ part is your ‘atma’ (the soul) and the ‘my’ part is ‘jadh tatva’ that is called ‘matter’. It is made of atoms, molecules. There are innumerable molecules in your body which are made up of mind, speech, body, intellect, ego, anger, lust, greed, pride, wrong beliefs etc., there are so many things inside. You can experience them, but you cannot find them by any scientific instruments.  Do we have any scientific methods or processes by which we can detect anger, or how it functions within? How much is it? How can we stop it? No, nothing. These things are unknown by science, medical sciences or any physical sciences. Only spiritual science can find out all such things and give us a solutions of ways to get rid of all these inner things; all of them.

So let us talk about the goals of human life.  You are already trying and have already achieved some of them of like education, good wife, good children, good money, good house, good health etc. You are making attempts for these already but another goal still remains for you. That goal is to realize the answer to  ‘Who am I?’ and to achieve permanent peace, permanent happiness. You see, everything is the world is temporary, but there is one eternal thing.  Once the eternal thing has been realized, there comes an end to all your achievements of life.

Now, that is of importance for you but how will you find it? See, of the two things you have to find, the matter part is easy because it is visible with your five senses but the soul part is not visible to any of the five senses or the intellect or anything else. But it can be experienced, see right now you say ‘I am Mathura’; but that is your belief.  Your name that you experience at the moment cannot be seen by anybody or anything but it is there. This awareness of ‘I am Mathura’ is constant within you. You do not have to do anything for that awareness; you don’t have to keep chanting ‘I am Mathura…I am Mathura’. That awareness is there with you automatically and it remains spontaneously within you. In the same way, when you get Self-realization, you will achieve the awareness of ‘I am not Mathura but I am shuddha atma’. Once that experience is awakened, that awareness will remain throughout. At the moment the awareness of ‘Mathura’ remains throughout, in the same way the awareness of ‘I am atma’ ‘I am a pure soul’ will be there.  Not only that but you will have awareness of ‘what is atma? What are the functions of the atma? What are the properties of the atma? How is the atma separate from other things? You will know all this and you can remain separate from everything else. And you can experience your bliss from within so that is the ultimate achievement of your human life. Dadashri achieved this realization in 1958. He had this awakening all of a sudden, when he was waiting at the Surat railway station; this realization happened spontaneously and automatically to him.

I got the same enlightenment from him.  This process is scientific; it is a 2-hour process. I sat with him; he gave me the knowledge of this spiritual science.  Knowledge of how the soul is separate from the body, mind, speech, intellect, ego, all wrong beliefs, anger, lust, greed, etc; what are they? How do they work and how we can control them. They cannot be controlled by any other means except through the knowledge of your soul. Through the awareness of your soul, you can control them without any tension or effort on your part. You can control them automatically once you achieve this enlightenment and realize ‘I am not this body or the mind or the speech.’ Dadashri blessed me with this awakening in 1968, within 2 hours!  It is a very simple procedure; it is a 2 hours process and after that it occurred spontaneously for me. The awareness of ‘I am a pure soul’ has never gone away since then; it is still going on. Even after 33 years, it is still there. What is more, after that realization, spontaneously my anger, lust, greed, pride etc., were decreasing; they became less and less…less and less and have now vanished. To me it was the greatest thing I have done and yet, I did nothing!”
