In 1958 the fully manifested Pure Soul that came to be called “Dada Bhagwan” was revealed to a family and business man, A.M. Patel, while he sat in a train station in Gujarat, India. The Gnan (direct experiential knowledge of the Self) was spontaneously revealed to him in 48 minutes. After attaining full Self-realization, A.M. Patel became, in his relative form, a Gnani Purush. After this he was respectfully addressed as Dadashri. This revelation did not come after a spiritual crisis, or even after extensive meditation or prayer; it came naturally.

Dadashri traveled extensively within India to share the bliss that he had attained with the world. Between 1981 and 1987 he visited the U.S.A. Europe and Africa to continue the work. Dadashri left his body in January 1988 - thirty years after he attained Gnan.

Dadashri’s spiritual powers (siddhis) were given to Pujya Dr. Niruben Amin (“Niruma”) and Pujya Deepakbhai Desai in 1987. Both were intimately exposed to the Akram science directly by Dadashri. Niruma devoted her life to spreading the Akram Vignan to the world. She conducted numerous Gnan Vidhis  all over the world until she passed in 2006. Dada Bhagwan asked Niruma to prepare Pujya Deepakbhai to continue the Akram path, which she did for 18 years. Pujya Deepakbhai now travels extensively, continuing the same work.

Gnan is given in a ceremony called Gnan Vidhi (“fire of knowledge”) that lasts for 48 minutes, followed by one hour of instructions on how to nurture the seed of Gnan to ensure that it unfolds full bloom amid the trials of daily life.

Dadashri made it clear that business has no place in the dissemination of Gnan, the sacred gift that you can now receive. For this reason Gnan is free. Who is Seeking?

Seekers of spiritual truth throughout the ages have faced a universal puzzle: The very ego that is seeking spiritual realization is often the obstruction to that realization. In the Gnan Vidhi ceremony the spiritual power of the Gnani Purush puts an end to the puzzle by destroying the wrong belief of “I am the body and intellect”, and establishing the right belief  of “I am Pure Soul.” This is not an intellectual concept of the mind, but an unassailable inner conviction that “I am Pure Soul.”

The Seed of Gnan

Everyone who receives the seed of Gnan also receives 5 profoundly simple guiding principles known as the 5 Agnas. These 5 Agnas give a correct understanding of the question "Who Am I?. How the world runs. Who is the real doer?. How to live life without conflict."

These were given by Dadashri to nurture and protect the priceless seed of Gnan amid the challenges of daily life by solving all worldly problems. Gnan is the experiential knowledge of the Pure Soul. These 5 principles are the heart of Akram Vignan. After the Gnan Vidhi ceremony, one receives certain “vidhis” (auspicious prayers) that serve to fertilize and expand the awareness of the Self. As the seed is protected with the Agnas (principles) and fertilized with the vidhis (prayers), it is nourished further by attending regular satsang (“company of those with the knowledge of Self”).

The Unfolding Process of Awakening

After one receives Gnan this conviction expands, thereby replacing one’s habitual sticking points (emotions, confusions, problems with relationships, health, finances – the challenges of the world) with expanding awareness and bliss. The sticky challenges of daily life become impotent through the application of the 5 Agnas. Whenever a worldly problem arises the awareness also spontaneously arises within to resolve the problem without conflict and suffering. One’s awareness blossoms at the very moments that once caused loss of awareness. And with the continual expansion of awareness, the experience of infinite bliss also expands.

Your Starting Point and Process

When once asked “who is qualified to receive Gnan?” Dadashri replied, “Whoever comes to me is qualified.” Everyone can attend Gnan from the present living Gnani Pujya Deepakbhai.

Many who receive Gnan are immediately and permanently transformed. For others, it may take longer to realize the full benefit. All will continue to increase. Their awareness and experience by following the 5 Agnas and attending satsang with Pujya Deepakbhai. All who receive Gnan realize the subtle conviction that "I am Pure Soul" accompanied by an ability to see how one's lack of awareness causes suffering to oneselfand others.

Through the light of the Pure Soul one’s sticking points are seen and dissolve just as ice melts under the sun’s rays. After receiving Gnan a natural process of forgiveness unfolds.  Your awakened Pure Soul becomes the guru and the relative, non-self, its disciple. This moment-to-moment cleansing of the faults of the relative self exposed by the awareness attained after Gnan, ensures the unstoppable ascent to full realization and oneness.

While everyone comes to the Gnani with varying degrees of spiritual development, the conviction received from the seed of Gnan is the same for all. That conviction, protected by the 5 Agnas, fertilized by the vidhis given after the Gnan Vidhi ceremony, and further nourished by satsang, steadily opens one into a permanent experience of infinite freedom and bliss.
