Purity in Business and Spiritualism

The art of getting Cheated knowingly

If someone is out to cheat me, I will know his intentions.  I understand that the poor man has such tendencies and because I want to be free of conflicts, I would let him get by.  It was my principle from a very young to knowingly allow people to cheat me.

I had lent 500 rupees to one gentleman.  I was not in the habit of making people sign promissory notes; there would be no documentation of such transactions.    I had forgotten about the incident and it was about a year and half later that I bumped into the man, it jogged my memory.  So I reminded him, ‘If you have the means now, please return the five hundred rupees you had borrowed.’  He asked me, ‘which five hundred rupees?’  I told him, ‘The money you had borrowed from me.’  He asked, ‘When did you loan me the money?  On the contrary I lent the money to you.  Have you forgotten?’  I immediately understood what was going on.  I pretended to think a little and then said, ‘Yes, I do remember now.  Tomorrow you can come and collect it.’ The next day I gave him five hundred rupees, so that I would not have to encounter the shameless man again.  What did I gain by allowing myself to be cheated in this way?  My brain became very sharp and it functioned even more powerfully than that of the prominent law judges.

Purity in business and spiritualism

In the business of construction to build with less cement is the same as sucking blood from people and to use less iron or metal is the same as taking away their bones and skeleton.  Stealing does not look good for the so called prestigious people. Thieves are better than these people who cheat.

Ideal Partnership

Dadashri had exemplary interactions even with children of his business partner of twenty-two years. When his partner’s children got married, he paid for half of all the wedding expenses, as a fifty-fifty partnership.  Where in the world would you find such an ideal partner?

Even though Dadashri’s business practice and principles were unparalleled, his chit was solely in the search of the soul.  Even after acquiring the Gnan in 1958, his business continued for many years, however he remained solely in his pure state, the Self.  He traveled to many towns and villages world over expending his mind, speech and body for the purpose of imparting the knowledge of the Self for the salvation of others.  What a beatific vision he held whereby he was able to remain at the pinnacle of spiritual purity and still conduct his business, his worldly life as well as his spiritual life simultaneously!

When I was doing business, I made one agreement with my partner.  I would take home only the amount of money I would make if I were an employee and no more. So that money was absolutely pure.  The rest of the money would be retained in the business.  He asked me, ‘What shall we do with that money?’  I told him, ‘Keep the rest of the money in the business; it will come handy if we ever incur a loss in the business.  Or if the income tax office asks for payment under my name, pay them off.  You don’t have to write to me about it’.

This organization is so pure that all the clothes I wear, my dhoti etc., are purchased with my own money.  Arey!  I don’t take any money and neither does Niruben.  Although Niruben remains in my service day and night, the clothes she wears are paid for with her own money.

In this world, whatever purity you maintain, the world will be yours to that degree. You are the owner of this world!  For the past twenty-six years I have not been the owner of this body and that is why my purity is absolute. So be pure !  By purity I mean where there is no desire for any worldly thing; where there is no covetousness for any worldly possession.

Gyani is absolutely free from all worldly desires.  He has no desire for wealth, for name, fame, or even for any disciples or any worldly pleasures.
