Questioner: In temples, when idols are being ‘inducted’ during the temples’ ‘inauguration’, whose allowed to do the ‘inauguration’?

Niruma: Authorized person can do it.   There are two types of ‘inauguration’.   The first type is done by the ignorant - the Authorized ignorant and the second by an Authorized Gnani.   A Gnani's‘inauguration’ is ‘celestial’ not worldly.   They don’t do it with all the rituals but theirs is done in their ‘Soul’ form, from their  ‘Soul’, They do it from the internal things, not by ritual. All these rituals, all these different ones and then they do the ‘inauguration’.   No such ‘inauguration’ takes place.

Questioner: Do any changes take place in the idol because of the ‘inauguration’?

Niruma: Yes it happens, brother!   I have ‘inaugurated’ thousands of idols.   By doing an  ‘inauguration’ of Simandhar Swami, the idol starts smiling.   It feels like it talks to people.   The home becomes peaceful.   Children keep sitting there attracted by the idol, and in temples when it is done to huge idols then, by seeing the idols; one feels happiness all over, complete happiness.
Questioner: So, one is attracted to it.

Niruma: Yes, one is attracted and at absolute peace.   Our heart feels at peace.   There’s one here in Ahmedabad, we’ve put a Simandhar Swami on the roof-terrace, come for devotional viewing.   You’ll be completely at peace.   It’s very attractive; one feels drawn to it.   When that ‘inauguration’ was done saffron and sandalwood paste flowed out from all the idols.   Terrific happiness was spread all over.   That is the presence of Gods and Goddesses.   I don’t do anything.   I just did the procedure of ‘inauguration’ which is subtle not physical.   The Gods are pleased therefore, they do all this.

Questioner: Does one get inspiration from idols with ‘inauguration’?

Niruma: You get peace and are inspired to go to them, to become like them, to go there; that is something great.
