What is Liberation?
 

Liberation is in two stages. In the first stage of liberation, the problems and miseries of the world cease to bother you. You remain unaffected amidst any suffering and experience the state of inner bliss of your real Self (Atma). The second stage of liberation occurs when you become completely free from all your karmas; you attain liberation from the cycle of birth and death

 
 
   
 

What happens to the previously bound karmas, after we get Self-realization (through the scientific process of Gyan Vidhi)?

 

Upon attaining self-realization, the two types of lighter karmas, which are in the form of veils of ignorance and are analogous to the form of ‘steam’ and ‘water’ are destroyed. However, the heavier ‘ice-like’ karmas, which have become solid, cannot be destroyed. You have no choice but endure them. However, after Self-realization you will be able to resolve all pending karmas with equanimity through the understanding and application of the Gnani’s Five Aagnas; the five cardinal principles you are given after the Self-Realization ceremony.

Why does the binding of karma stop after Self-realization?

 

One ceases to bind karma when one becomes completely free from all doubts regarding two things: 1. One’s identity as being the pure Soul.  2. One’s belief of being the doer of actions. There is no power of doership in the real Self; everything occurs due to many scientific circumstantial evidences coming together.

What changes take place after Self-realization?

 

Prior to Self-realization, you would see faults of others whereas after self-realization, you begin to see your own faults.

What is pragnya shakti?

 

Pragnya is the energy or light of the Soul; it is a ‘representative’ of the pure soul. It helps us remain in our new awakened state as the Soul and alerts us when we slip away from it. It cautions us against indulging in the worldly life. It’s role is to constantly guide us until we attain our fully realized state of the Self (Parmatma).

How can one identify intellect?

 

That which shows you faults of others, creates restlessness, defends your own mistakes, raises arguments, keeps you constantly in the worldly life and in mental agony for no reason - that is intellect.

How can we see the Pure Soul (Shuddhatma)?

 

The Pure Soul in every living being is to be seen by way of your inner vision, i.e. through the understanding of the Knowledge of the Soul, which you have been given. If your friend is a doctor, when you meet him you know that he is your friend and at the same time you know that he is a doctor. Both those things are there simultaneously. In the same way, the physical part that is visible to the eye is the outer ‘packing’ that is temporary in nature and the Soul within is the real Self and it is eternal. This you know also. Conscious acknowledgement of the soul within is the same as seeing the Soul.

 When can we use Vyavasthit - ‘Scientific Circumstantial Evidence’ as a support?

 

After making every effort, whatever the end result; that is Vyavasthit or ‘Scientific Circumstantial Evidence’. You cannot claim that everything is vyavasthit ahead of time, without making an effort.  You cannot say ‘Scientific Circumstantial Evidence’before it ends in the result.

What is a file?

 

‘File’ is a special name given to anything that takes you away from your real Self.  In reference to people, it is used for everyone with whom you have karmic connection. In a chronological order, file no 1 is your relative self; file # 2 is your spouse, #3 your children, file # 4 your parents etc.  The word file is also referred to situations that you have to deal with.

When can we say that we have resolved our file with equanimity?

  When someone praises you or insults you and during that time you remember any of Dada’s five aagnas, resulting in no change within your inner intent, then that ‘file’ is said to be resolved with equanimity.

  How can we increase ‘credit’ in the account of the Pure Soul?>
 
You can credit the account of Pure Soul by following Dada’s five cardinal instructions as much as you can, or by partaking in any activities that will help you progress in your Gnan (Knowledge of the Self) e.g. attending satsangs of PujyaDeepakbhai, attending local weekly satsangs and live discourses, reading Dada’s books, watching satsang VCD of Pujya Dadashri, Pujya Niruma and Pujya Deepakbhai, by doing Charan Vidhi, by doing pratikraman (asking for forgiveness using the method as prescribed by Dadashri), doing  samayik which isintrospective meditation etc.

What should we meditate or contemplate upon before falling asleep at night?

 
When you go to sleep, keep reciting ‘I am Pure Soul…I am Pure Soul’, loud enough so your ears can hear.  With your eyes closed, recall and contemplate upon a photograph of Dada or Simandhar Swami in the manner that their picture comes in front of your eyes.

Why do we have to do Charan Vidhi daily?

 
One must do Charan Vidhi without fail once a day. These were Dadashri’s instructions. Veils of ignorance over the Self break by doing Charan Vidhi, which in turn leads to an increase in Self-awareness.

What is the importance of a living Gnani (Pratyaksh)?

   
Self-realization can only be attained through a living Gnani. Only a living Gnani can show you and guide you on the path to reach ultimate liberation. The Gnani can also help you when you get stuck along the way.  This process is not possible through books. In live discourses, you can get solutions directly from the Gnani, for your problems and ways to increase your Self-awareness.

What is the meaning of pratikraman and samayik?

 
Pratikraman as prescribed by Dadashri is a three-step process that involves recalling your mistakes, repenting for them and making a firm decision not to repeat them. If you happen to hurt anyone through your thoughts, speech or actions, this process helps erase your mistakes. Samayik is an introspective meditation to find factors that hinder your Self-awareness.

 What do we need to see in samayik?

  At night, go over the day’s events from the morning till night and check to see where you missed applying Dadashri’s Five Aagnas. Check to see whom you hurt through your inner anger-pride-deceit-greed, etc. You need to see all this through introspection for 10 to 48 minutes of samayik everyday.

When must we do pratikraman?

 
Pratikraman can be done at any time. Do it whenever you remember hurting someone.  It is best done the instant you hurt someone. Dadashri called this ‘Shoot on sight’ pratikraman. You must also do pratikraman if someone hurts you. You must continue doing pratikraman until you see the other person as being faultless.

How can we achieve freedom from the demerit karmas, which we have committed up to this point?

 
Your faults, which you have committed towards others, can be forgiven by doing pratikraman.  Your faults of lighter karmas are destroyed during the Gnan Vidhi. Remaining in Dadashri’s Five Aagnas and doing pratikraman can also discharge your remaining heavy karmas.

  Anger used to arise before Self Realization, anger arises even after Self Realization, so where did the change occur? 
  Before Self Realization, when anger used to arise, you used to harbor violent intent and a lingering connection to past events. Now after Self Realization, you no longer have violent intent and lingering effects. You may get angry but your pratikraman will start almost simultaneously.

What does ‘I am immiscible Pure Soul’ (Hoon tunkotkirnavat aevo Shuddhatma choo) mean?

 
Immiscibleis one of the properties of the Soul. This property allows the Self to remain unmixable with other eternal elements. For example, if you mix oil and water together, the two will never mix or blend into each other. In the same manner, no matter how many different bodies a Soul has to endure, it never becomes one with other elements.

 What does ‘I can never be hurt, nor can I hurt anyone’ (‘Hoon avyabaadh swaroopi choo) mean?

 
Another property of the Pure Soul is such that it can never hurt any living being whatsoever and in the same token no living can hurt it.  The Pure Soul in others too is such that it can never hurt us. An analogy of this is fire cannot burn ice.
